Reality Show Pits Twitch Streamers in Battle to Win One Bitcoin

Online streamers competing to win one Bitcoin will be featured on the Netflix series The House of Streams, which has a UK and Ireland license.

Eight contestants with a total of four million followers will be featured on the reality TV series, which is scheduled to debut on June 18, according to the show's website. Twitch streamers would allegedly compete in a series of challenges to win 1 Bitcoin, which at the time of writing was worth almost $104,000.

The Malta Film Commission's decision to focus on a cryptocurrency award for contestants is unknown. However, the show's creator, Mark Holland, stated that the final reward could not be a simple cash prize or a trip to the Maldives. The website included a notice indicating that some people have previously utilized the show's relationship with digital assets to create a bogus memecoin.

"We support Bitcoin and not any other memecoin," the House of Streams stated on May 22.

Are well-known cryptocurrency owners being targeted?

As of June 6, none of the eight House of Streams contestants—who went by handles like OutplayedByJade, CyborgAngel, and The Black Hokage—seemed to have made any public remarks regarding the series.

Unrelated to the series, at least one streamer has claimed to have been targeted because of their cryptocurrency holdings. Kaitlyn Siragusa, who goes by the pseudonym Amouranth, said in March that a gang had stormed into her house and wanted cryptocurrency. In 2024, she shared a screenshot of her Coinbase account, which revealed that she had about $20 million in Bitcoin at the time.

Siragusa's attack was just one of several occurrences in 2025 in which criminals targeted investors or individuals associated with exchanges. In France, a group of criminals allegedly attempted to abduct and ransom Paymium CEO Pierre Noizat's daughter and grandchild.
